Body Count – Merciless (2024) Review

Summary
Alright, the great thing about Body Count is you know what you're getting in for, and this album is more of that: thrashy, groovy, heavy riffs with Ice-T and an assortment of guests tying it all together. The instrumentals and riff-oriented song writing has always been a big plus for me, and Merciless is full of it! If you were hoping for an evolution for Body Count, you're out of luck, but if you wanted more of the same - you got it! It's a decent album, and one that I've found myself putting on more than a few times, but it's not breaking any new ground.
Good
  • Nu-hardcore? Nice riffing
  • Big fan of Ice -T's vocals, and this release is no exception
  • Some neck-breaking sections
  • More of Body Count
Bad
  • The lyrics and themes are really played out at this point, especially for this band - not really offering anything new or interesting in this space
7.5

The resident cave dwelling, chug loving, prog snob that doesn't like prog. You'll find me overindulging in mediocre music and rating it way too high.
