Replacire – The Center That Cannot Hold (2024) Review

Summary
"Is this a darker Black Crown Initiate?" I hear you ask - no, sweet summer child... well, actually, yes... sort of? Anyway, Replacire are definitely unto themselves: a technical death metal force to be reckoned with. If you're not a fan of aggressive metal with a dearth of melody or hooks, just keep looking - this is not for you. However, if you like aggression with rare Faceless-style sci-fi interludes, then this is most definitely for you. Check it out and try a few tracks before making your judgment - or don't; I don't care. It is a pretty filthy album, though.
Good
  • Dissonant, confronting melodies
  • Aggressive and unapologetic
Bad
  • Beautiful melodies that break up the aggression are few and far between - the contrast would have elevated the experience had there been more

The resident cave dwelling, chug loving, prog snob that doesn't like prog. You'll find me overindulging in mediocre music and rating it way too high.
