Lord Agheros – Anhedonia (2025) Review

Summary
Lord Agheros - hey, you're new to me, and that's great. What is immediately sorely missing in this album are hooks - I get it if the objective is to create these quasi tribal mixed with gothic motifs and put them into an occasionally distorted sonic environment, but it gets boring pretty quickly. In parts it felt like I wasn't listening to album so much as I was looking for the "skip credits" button in some wayward open Netflix tab. If that appeals to you, then this album is one you'll enjoy. For me it's a fine album, but one that I wasn't ever drawn into. If you want some background music for being a goth in the woods, have at it.
Good
  • Some beautiful soundscapes
  • Definitely unique
  • Female vocals are a great inclusion
  • Very gothic if you're into that
Bad
  • Instrumentally, it's whatever
  • Guitars are weak
  • I don't buy into the atmosphere

The resident cave dwelling, chug loving, prog snob that doesn't like prog. You'll find me overindulging in mediocre music and rating it way too high.
