Vredehammer – God Slayer (2024) Review
Summary
Alright lady and gentlemen, when you're asking yourself what is the most head-bangable album of the year, you'll hear me from across the fjord yelling GOD SLAYER as if you're having a psychotic break. But it really is that simple: the aptly titled God Slayer is exactly the soundtrack for embarking on this ridiculous notion, and my God (slayer) is it just incredible. There are several moments in this album that are some of the greatest contributions to music 2024 had to offer, and it's going painfully underappreciated. The riffs here are almost off the chug charts - Vredehammer have managed to embody the very essence of accessible modern death metal in such a powerful way. Perfect for the gym, churning butter, folding a fitted sheet, and just about anything where you need a godly resolve - if you're not using this album as the performance enhancing drug that it is, shame on you.
I'll never forget God Slayer and God help all future death metal albums who now have to be judged against it. Unhook the belt from the ceiling fan and strap yourself in for a hell of a ride. Good
- Hard hitting, groovy riffs
- Never a dull moment
- Grandiose themes that fit the music
- A lot of memorable moments
Bad
- Harsh vocals slightly bring the album down
