The Night Flight Orchestra – Give Us The Moon (2025) Review

Summary
You may be wondering why an album such as this appears here where most other albums are significantly heavier. Simple, Soilwork was a big band for some of us in our formative metal years and if their lead singer has a side project, its worth at least checking out in between Soilwork records. That being said, the only similarity between two bands is the singer. Musically polar opposite, with The Night Flight Orchestra blending 80's power rock and Rock Opera vibes compared to the Swedish Melo Death of Soilwork. That being said, going in knowing the skill of certain members made me generally dislike what this record had to offer. It had moments where it was enjoyable but I can't help but feel it misses the marks it is trying to hit. A pity really.
Good
  • Lead guitars nice in parts
  • Vocals fit song style and structure
Bad
  • Confusing, left me puzzled on what they were trying to say
  • Very "Dad rock" which hurts a little knowing what it could have been compared to what it is

Rhythms & Percussion - 6.8

Sorting the musical gems being released through the swampy waters is a tedious task, so why not let me do it for you.
