Jinjer – Duél (2025) Review
Summary
Jinjer releases are always an exciting time - they are undeniable trailblazers - and we're graced with another strong album to colour their discography. Duél sees the band continuing to explore their groovy and progressive tendencies, flavoured by Tatiana's iconic vocals, wisping the listener through a sojourn of dissonance and conceptual struggle. Each song on Duél can stand on it's own, be it groovy, aggressive, or otherwise: it's 43 minutes of straight up heavy, with brief interludes that act as an oasis in the wasteland. The end result is an impactful and thematically meaningful album that can easily resonate with listeners that have experienced the vicissitudes that life has to offer. Bonus points for my boy Kafka getting some mentions in popular metal culture - it's about time, even if posthumously he'd hate it. Good
- Great rhythms
- Fantastic vocals by Tatiana, of course
- Beautifully thick bass (and percussions overall)
- Unmistakably Jinjer
- For a 43-minute run time, the listening experience goes by quickly
Bad
- Melodically a little weak at times
