Amiensus – Reclamation, Pt. II (2024) Review
Summary
Releasing albums in two parts can be a gamble, especially if the bar is set high in the first part but fails to hit the mark in the second. However, in terms of Aviensus' Reclamation Pt 2, to say it builds on the first is an understatement. Bringing the dissonance and desolate atmosphere to the next level. The addition of Lars Nedland (who I know best from Borknagar) was a stroke of genius, adding even more depth and dynamic range to break up the jarring, aggressiveness of the songs prior. Overall, the two together work as a great listening experience and with minor improvements, could easily become an album pair for your regular rotation. Good
- Builds on the already strong first part, stepping it up a notch,
- Wider vocal range helps make the heavier sections hit harder
Bad
- Much like part 1, that little bit more memorability to the leads wouldn't hurt
- Tighter refinement on some transitions would be nice but thats a personal preference rather than a necessity
