Slaughter to Prevail – Behelit (2024) Review
Summary
If you don't think Berserk is cool, you're a pussy. A Swedish man told me that, and now he's dead. Slaughter to Prevail's Behelit is a thematic tribute EP (15 minutes) to Berserk, and it's a good time. Alex's Terrible (fart noise) vocals are a staple of the experience, as is to be expected, and alongside the groove and dissonance it portrays the short but sweet Behelit as a formidable listening experience. It's hard to appreciate this band to the extent that they perhaps deserve without seeing them do a live performance (even on video), as Alex is such an impressive vocalist, which is a critical part of the band's importance. The EP itself isn't going to blow you away, but it is a good time. Good
- Just solid, aggressive metal
- Thematically great
- Vocal performance on point
- Riffs are chonky
Bad
- The shortness leads to envy
- Some more memorable melodic lines wouldn't hurt
