Slaughter to Prevail – Behelit (2024) Review

Summary
If you don't think Berserk is cool, you're a pussy. A Swedish man told me that, and now he's dead. Slaughter to Prevail's Behelit is a thematic tribute EP (15 minutes) to Berserk, and it's a good time. Alex's Terrible (fart noise) vocals are a staple of the experience, as is to be expected, and alongside the groove and dissonance it portrays the short but sweet Behelit as a formidable listening experience. It's hard to appreciate this band to the extent that they perhaps deserve without seeing them do a live performance (even on video), as Alex is such an impressive vocalist, which is a critical part of the band's importance. The EP itself isn't going to blow you away, but it is a good time.
Good
  • Just solid, aggressive metal
  • Thematically great
  • Vocal performance on point
  • Riffs are chonky
Bad
  • The shortness leads to envy
  • Some more memorable melodic lines wouldn't hurt

The resident cave dwelling, chug loving, prog snob that doesn't like prog. You'll find me overindulging in mediocre music and rating it way too high.
