Ulcerate – Cutting the Throat of God (2024) Review
Summary
Ulcerate's concoction of hauntingly beautiful blackened death metal continues it's kiwi march with impunity in their iconoclastic release Cutting the Throat of God. What is achieved in this album's 58 minute runtime is something only few bands get the pleasure of having. If you're a god-fearing pit lord, swing your greasy elbows into a comfortable chair and endure the confronting, almost otherworldly, addition to this year's best albums. Good
- Oppressively beautiful
- Strangely easy listening for extreme metal
- Feels like essential listening for any metalhead looking to challenge their tastes
Bad
- The doom-stricken, oppressive atmosphere can be difficult to get through for the average listener
