Bleeding Through – NINE (2025) Review
Summary
My experience with Bleeding Through - the only experience - up until this album has been as an angsty teenager watching Runescape pking videos with On Wings of Lead blasting. From This Is Love, This Is Murderous to now, the evolution of Bleeding Through is very much apparent: it's leaning more into the blackened and death metal influences that the band has become to be known for. It's not quite deathcore, but the elements are there. NINE is no different, and I gotta say, it's a really solid album from a band that is showing a progressive evolution. The weaving of different rhythmic elements, the focus on subtle melody that compliments the atmosphere, the various vocal inclusions - NINE is an album with a lot to offer you. Want some filthy, groovy riffs? Got it. Oppressive yet melodically beautiful atmospheres? Yep, there's some of that. Different vocal stylings to compliment the atmospheres? Sure! While NINE isn't reinventing any wheels, it's a welcome addition to the year's charts and I very much enjoyed it. You will too, probably. Good
- Solid riffs with some certifiable stank face
- Appropriate melodic inclusions to guide the oppressive atmospheres
- Songs are largely very energetic, which for me is a major plus
- Vocals are solid, the variety of which really adds to the overall atmospheres
- Every song is a good listen
Bad
- Varied vocals, yes, but some are significantly better than others
- Rhythm guitars get a little washed in the mix at times, particularly when the sections contain melodic inclusions
- Lyrical themes are a little overplayed
