Dragonknight – Legions (2025) Review
Summary
When your band is self-described as, and I quote, "a group composed of five mythical Dragonlords"... if you're not putting out absolute bangers I'm going to be disappointed. And I was. These lyrical themes are so overplayed and cliche at this point - even if it is a power metal trope - that the genre has got to do something and move past this as a whole. If I hear the words eternity, cold north, forevermore, or battlefield, I get ready to blow my brains out. What kept me from careening off the edge, and this means a lot because the album is fraught with so many platitudes and cliches that it's nauseating, was the strength of a lot of the instrumentals. Occasionally the vocals take a dirt nap, and the Disney lyrics along with them, such that you can enjoy the instrumentals, but it's few and far between. If you don't care about lyrics, then you will definitely care about this album. If you do, well, here we are. Good
- Strong instrumentals
- Good production
- Strong hold over melody
Bad
- Vocals are weak
- Lyrics are nauseating
