Dream Theater – Parasomnia (2025) Review
Summary
To say Dream Theater are genre defining is an understatement. As one of the pioneers of the modern progressive metal scene, their influence is clear across hundreds if not thousands of bands and will continue to be so for years to come. Their latest album, 'Parasomnia' (16th studio album) is definitely one their fans will love, delivering a melodic master class, screaming solos and plenty of tempo changes to keep your focus throughout. Rhythmically and compositionally beautiful, this album will likely become one in your 2025 rotation especially if you are getting into Progressive Metal or a die hard fan. Good

- Perfectly executed transitions, tempo changes and melodies
- A perfect welcome back to Mike Portnoy
- Multiple listens allows you fully capture the many layers to the album
Bad
- Vocals are good, but in my opinion have been their Achille's heel since the early 2000's
- Lyrically a little unimaginative at times (if I have to be picky)
