KLAW – Gods and Creators (2025) Review
Summary
I probably won't praise KLAW as much as they praise themselves in their bios, but Gods and Creators is a solid ass album. You can sink your teeth into every song, the flavour of which may vary according to your thrash mileage, but it's a highly enjoyable listen from start to finish. What is on display here is an onslaught of energetic and melodic riffs and drum work across 11 tracks (sorry, Intro, you're not included) that form this highly complete and feature rich album - it's the Zurich of thrash metalr. What tickles me is a lot of the non-trash riffs were more engaging than their thrashy alternatives. That's not to say that this isn't good thrash - it very much is - but just that KLAW can do more than just thrash, and do it well: the intro to Swell and Senseless in it's entirety, for e.g. It's a good album and you should listen to it. Good
- Groovy, punchy, and engaging riffmanship
- Drumming greatly compliments the melodic and rhythmic guitar lines
- Vocals, while not the strong suit of the album, fit nicely into the mix
- The ability to not need to rely on the faster, thrashier tropes whilst maintaining the spirit of thrash is well done here
Bad
- That being said about the vocals, they are the weakest aspect of the album, along with...
- The themes are a little on the nose at times, without leaving a lot to the imagination
