Lacuna Coil – Sleepless Empire (2025) Review
Summary
31 years after their conception (originally as Sleep of Right), Lacuna Coil is showing no signs of slowing down. Bringing another heavy, hard hitting album. Encompassing their gothic, melodic style of metal, this moody album lures you in before serenading you with both the harsh and beautiful clean vocals that Andrea and Cristina are known to bring. And once you think its starting to slow down, it brings back the chuggy guitars, bass and drums to keep your eyes pinned open. Guest appearances on 'Hosting the Shadow' & 'In The Mean Time' expands the breadth of the album, which is never a bad thing. Another quality Lacuna Coil album that caters to fans and new listeners alike. Good
- Harmonies between male and female vocals pair well
- Bouncy, groovy rhythms
- Guest feature tracks enhance album
Bad
- Rhythms could be a bit more varied (feels a bit dull at times)
- Stronger lead hooks would elevate certain tracks
