Nox Doloris – Konstantinopolis (2025) Review
Summary
As confidently as a Janissary shoots his load into his enemies, I, too ... Ok. What Nox Doloris have crafted with Konstantinopolis is, quite frankly, some cool ass shit: it is a rousing journey inspired by the mundane period of medieval Constantinople, driven by melodic hooks, aggressive rhythms, uplifting symphonic elements, and an appropriate sense of impending doom - as was customary at the time. This album strikes me as one of those "unto itself" bands that are uniquely themselves, having only heard of them as of now, and that, for me, is always a plus - these are exactly the kind of bands I yearn to find. There's a lot packed into Konstantinopolis and almost certainly something for everyone. However, if you fall into the target audience for this kind of music, you'll love it. Good
- Groovy, melodic, and grand
- Some really great riffs
- Not afraid to get a little filthy
- Composition is excellent, with each song being memorable in their own rights
- Thematically fantastic
Bad
- Harsh vocals feel a little out of place in the mix
