Stick To Your Guns – Severed Forever (2025) Review

Summary
It's metalcore, it's hardcore, it's melodic... it's pretty good is what it is. What immediately stands out is how punchy and aggressive the album is - which is to be expected, sure - whilst maintaining a nice melodic presence throughout. What I don't particularly like are the more poppy motifs that edge their way into the compositions - I know this is par for the course, but this skip-ahead-trigger-finger is working on a birdie. The lack of enough melodic or rhythmic hooks prevented me from latching onto the album more. Oh, and it's only 24 minutes long - give me 5+ minutes to show me what you're made of (wink).
Good
  • Strong vocals
  • Nice melodic overtones
  • Some chonky and filthy riffs
  • Flavourful drum fills
Bad
  • Some sections are too poppy for my taste
  • Needs more hooks to keep my interested
  • 24-minutes long across 10 songs

The resident cave dwelling, chug loving, prog snob that doesn't like prog. You'll find me overindulging in mediocre music and rating it way too high.
