Synaptic – Enter the Void (2025) Review
Summary
All in all, Synaptic's Enter the Void is a solid technical death metal album. If you're an instrumental listener, there's nothing in here that is too overbearing to the point where it's difficult to endure. In that respect, it's surprisingly accessible technical death metal to my ears, and that could be due to it's beautiful insistence on melodic overtones throughout the album, which is an odd way to Enter the Void (prrrt) but I'm glad for it. The rhythms are strong, the melodies are strong, the vocals aren't overplayed, and the instruments are allowed to thrive in the mix which is necessary for this caliber of metal. Good
- Solid riffing
- Engaging rhythms
- Has that quintessential staccato-style arpeggiated leads that technical death metal loves
Bad
- Injection of some soaring, memorable melodies would have been nice
- Vocals, while a nice addition, tend to hold the composition back
