Veil Of Conspiracy – Shape of Grief (2025) Review
Summary
Being honest before diving into my review, Doom Metal is a genre I do not typically gravitate to. Maybe its the feeling of anguish and despair, but there's something that I've always struggled with it. That being said, I feel pleasantly rewarded for stepping out of my comfort zone and listening to Veil of Conspiracy's latest release, 'Shape of Grief'. The space and setting they have created is dark, crushing and haunting. The timings fit perfectly and the vocals fit the scene perfectly. Sure it had the anguish, despair and crushing weight of the world feeling, but it was highlighted with just enough progression and other genre influences to make it a coherent, journey through the motions. Good
- Dark, Slow & Brooding
- Vocal range on point for intended sound
- Solid progressions to keep you hooked
Bad
- Needs more breaks and atmospheric tracks to enhance transitions
- More memorable riffs would be nice
